Everyone on my Tumblr dash, PLEASE watch this. Especially if you are a creative artist:

Adobe is going to scrap their hard copies (disks) for their software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash), and have you pay a subscription for the latest software called the Adobe Creative Cloud. $50 per month. Could you really afford such an expense in the long run?

This is really disturbing. Please hear what he has to say, it really is a serious situation for working artists. Pass this along so others may know about the Adobe Creative Cloud and how horrible it is.

Yep… Just went to see how much Flash costs. You know, to just buy the program? Guess what? After spending a while looking, it appears that you CAN’T anymore. You have to pay an outrageous subscription fee. I hate adobe. Is there a petition going around to stop this nonsense? Because I want to sign it.

Thanks! I know a lot of artists and people who like art follow me. You guys should go sign that.

Today I just signed the petition in the voice against the Adobe Creative Cloud. For those who are not familiar with what the new Creative Cloud can do to you as an artist, I really suggest you watch this video.

For those who have seen, reblogged, faved, here’s the link (as shown in the previous reblog) to sign the petition. Anything can happen, Adobe really needs to know that many artists are not supportive of them controlling not just the software..but the content worked on the Cloud.

This is really important guys, for all artists

this is fuckign ridiculous

are you kidding adobe

ARTISTS, THIS IS RELEVANT

Welp, CS6 sucks balls imo, so no point in spending money on that. Guess I’ll just have to purchase painter if I ever need to switch programs…

i don’t think i’ve ever agreed with anything more than what this man is saying

watch this. seriously

yes yes yes yes yes

this is amazing

this guy is so sick

I needed this right now. Anyone taking finals needs this right now.

I’m about to turn 30. I could have been valedictorian when I graduated High School but I was too lazy to complete the forms. I have a Bachelor’s from DeVry, where I left with an average 3.2 carrying an average course load of 18 credit hours (peak 24, nadir 14). I also have an Associate’s from a local college, and I am Phi Theta Kappa there.

Here’s what I can tell you.

No employer has ever asked for my GPA. No employer ever gave a SHIT about my grades. DeVry only cared about my ACT score, and my Bachelor’s lost me jobs because I was “overqualified”. Now that I’m using my Associate’s, no one cares about my grades, or degree. My employer cares about A) my hours, B) my practical quals.

Unless you’re pushing for the Ivy League, no one is going to care about your grades. Ever. Amen. So I say to you this: 3.0 or above works for most but honestly, just get a good score on your ACT or SAT (and remember, you can retake it!). College is not a guarantee of a good life or even a paycheck. If anything it’s a near-guarantee of crippling debt.

THAT DOES NOT MEAN DO NOT GO, but for god’s sake do your research on your degree. Know what to expect. Colleges are marketing departments and will tell you sweet lies to get your money because college doesn’t care and won’t coddle you.

DO SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE. Find a way to make money in a way that you enjoy. It might not be the thing you enjoy most, but if you like it and it pays for what you enjoy most, well. That might be good enough.

Read. Travel. Take risks. Fuck up, try again. But enjoy it.

Godspeed.

A quick editorial cartoon about the intersection of self-pity, entitlement, rape, territoriality, misogyny and fear of women. You see it all over the place online in the form of Men’s Rights Activists (of whom there are a few reasonable non-misogynists), Men Going Their Own Way, Pick Up Artists, and dudes touting the “Red Pill”, because The Matrix is a good movie. Look any of these up if you have the stomach for it. These are extreme examples, but watered-down forms of these ideas are everywhere.

In lurking their blogs and youtube channels for a while, I’ve noticed that beyond the standard patriarchal chauvinism there is this deep fear of women - what they will do to me, how they will reject me, how they will use me, how they are changing society in a way that does not favor me, how they are making men into something I don’t like, how they are making themselves into something I don’t like, that they won’t give me what I want, and that they won’t give me what I think is rightfully mine. This goes beyond fear of feminism- this is fear of women at its purest. And that, to quote a puppet, leads to anger and hate. It’s sad.

I am a feminist. I think there’s enough ice cream to go around, but it does mean those of us with 3 scoops might have to give one or two up. Also, The Matrix is a fun movie but probably not anything you should be basing a philosophy on.

Very interesting and tragic - Jimquisition brings up the creepyness of game publishers

If you had missed it I think this is interesting: Jimquisition brings up the creepyness of the attitude towards female protagonists by the gaming industry higher-ups.

This was very interesting.  Especially the part about publishers specifically saying they didn’t want to put the heroine on the cover of the game, and that a developer was told that their heroine couldn’t have a straight relationship because it would turn off the straight male audience.

:( this is pretty sad yeah

i hate how a lot of top level decisions are made by people who just…. don’t care about breaking any molds and just want to do the same bullshit

this is why i like indie games

e: what am i saying “what the fuck” i already knew this. i guess i’m just saddened is all.

I wrote this short to educate the masses on why Skullgirls characters cost so damn much to make.  Big thanks to Jaxxy for the artwork and to Kimlinh for her Robofortune voice. :D

We love this you guys~ This is awesome! Good way to show how the character costs too haha ;w;b

Another reminder to everybody out there~ The Skullgirls IGG campaign is less than 2 days away from ending! http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/keep-skullgirls-growing?c=home Thank you again for helping us reach the 3rd character- we couldn’t have done it without all of the fan and team support!!!! You guys went way beyond the extra mile~

We still got a few more stretch goals if possible~ including a playable Robo Fortune and support for Mane6’s project :0/ Check out the page to donate. Anyone who donates will be able to participate in the 3rd character vote as well.

Sir Patrick Stewart: ‘Violence Against Women Is Learned’

The truth is that domestic violence and violence against women touch many of us. This violence is not a private matter. Behind closed doors it is shielded and hidden and it only intensifies. It is protected by silence – everyone’s silence. Violence against women is learned. Each of us must examine - and change - the ways in which our own behavior might contribute to, enable, ignore or excuse all such forms of violence. I promise to do so, and to invite other men and allies to do the same.

I love this man. My dad raised me to be a Trekkie watching him & Captain Janeway growing up. Between this and Miss Grotke from Recess I was a budding feminist and I didn’t even know it. :’)
